PRECISION AND TRADITION

The Balbach Forge stands out for its extensive experience and skills in forging techniques. Established in 1963 as an artesan forge by Eduard Balbach, the forge still exists today in the German city of Iserlohn. It is run by master blacksmith Markus Balbach as a second-generation family business. In 1991 Markus Balbach set up a second forge, which is located in Laubuseschbach in the central German region of Hesse. There he started doing research and development on damascus steels and finally managed to produce them on an industrial scale. The forging specialists around Markus have continually developed and perfected this forging technique, which is well over 2,000 years old.

Today, known in third-generation as Balbachdamast GmbH & Co. KG, our market leading enterprise provides industrial customers from various sectors worldwide with damascus steels of the highest quality and in various designs. Moreover, the Balbach team has a profound knowledge of how to manufacture damascus steels using traditional craftsmanship. Thus extraordinary objects are created, either as customised items or for the in-house Balbach Line. These products are developed at the Balbach forge, from their conception and design stages up to and including the craft manufacturing process.

The Balbachdamast GmbH & Co. KG is a plant approved by §4 BImSchG (German Federal Immission Protection Law) Nr.3.11 Sp.2 under the Federal Emissions Protection Ordinances (BImSchV).

Markus and Lukas Balbach stand for the quality of the Balbach Forge.
